Have you just spilt coffee all over your carpet? If so, you are probably thinking that this stain is going to cost way too much to have removed or that your carpet is ruined forever. However, there are many great and affordable at-home methods for removing your coffee stain, such as the following:

Lemon Juice:

Because lemons contain a good source of acid, it will be able to lighten any dark carpet stains, such as coffee spills. This will make it easy for coffee stains to then fade out, which will prevent you from hardly even noticing that they were there in the first place. When trying a lemon juice solution, make sure you damp the area with warm water, and use about ¼ cup of lemon juice. After applying the lemon juice, grab a rag and begin to apply some force when rubbing the area. This will help soak the lemon into the carpet so it can begin to fade out the dark coffee stain.

Baking Soda:

Baking soda can be a great and effective option if you want a fast and easy to use cleaning method. Because baking soda has a tough reaction, it will be able to pull surface stains from your carpet. This is great if you are utilizing this method shortly after your spill, as this will likely provide you with the best results. When using this method, spray the coffee area with water and pour a nice layer of baking soda over the area. Let the baking soda sit for a bit, as this will give it time to pull as much coffee from your carpet as possible. Once the area has dried up, you can vacuum over the baking soda to clean up the dried baking soda from your carpet.

Laundry or Dish Soap:

If you don't have any lemon juice or baking soda around the house then there is a great chance that you do have either laundry or dish soap. Both laundry and dish soap are great at lifting oils, which can be perfect if you are dealing with a coffee stain. When using this method, apply water and the soap of your choice on the stained area and use a small brush to brush the area. This will help prevent the coffee from setting in, which will allow you to remove it with the brush.

Trying these at-home methods may be what you need to remove your coffee stain without paying too much or without having to deal with an inconvenient trip to your local home improvement store. Also, because these methods are affordable, you can perform them each time that you spill a beverage on your carpet, which can save you a good amount of money on a yearly basis.
